Namha Villages Experience is a 2-day hike through the forest to the villages inside the National Park of Northern Laos. We will start walking through a beautiful bamboo forest and learn how the locals use the nature resource for their living. You will get experience either a homestay with the local families or lodging alongside the riverbank of Namha, where you can have a swim in a clear river. And the second day you will walk along the mountain valley to visit different hill tribes and villages and to witness local people’s lifestyle.
Day1: We take a Mini Van drive to the point where we start hike for a half an hour. The first part of the hike is up the hill for an hour among the secondary forest. Soon we descend down to the stream and entering the primary forest, where you will see a lot of big old trees, some of them are a few hundred years old. You will continue trekking up some down trails before stopping for a fantastic local picnic lunch. After lunch,
we will hike for about an hour or two hours until we reach the village by mid of afternoon. For the rest of day, you can play with the local children, walk around the village or collect some wild vegetables with the local people for a dinner. This is an opportunity to interact with the local people in the village, to go fishing with them or to enjoy a cool swim in the clear water of the Namha river. You will enjoy a locally prepared delicious dinner and then relax by the campfire at night before going to bed.
Day2: You will wake up early in the morning around 8:30am for enjoy a locally prepared breakfast and coffee or tea, and maybe you would like to take a cold shower or a swim in the river, or walk through the villages and witness how the locals prepare for their working day. You will depart from the village around 9 am, we will play local game with local people in the village before walk along the river bank for an hour to a nearby village of Khmu tribe – Ban Nalan Tai. We will continue walking on to another village of Ban Namkoy (Lantan tribe). The tribe which derives from a Chinese origin and who still wear traditional clothes, make their own textile and do natural dyeing. In the dry season, they make bamboo paper for recording stories. After spending a while in the village, we will head onward through the forest and climb up a mountain. We walk along the ridgeline enjoying the views before descending down to the Lantan village of Ban Namlue, located near the main road. From there we will walk for few minutes to our Mini Van that will take us back into town.
